Melissa Miller Featured on the Cover of Canadian Lawyer Magazine

HSH Partner Melissa Miller was recently profiled in the October 2021 issue of Canadian Lawyer magazine, speaking about her fight for improved conditions for elderly Canadians living in long-term care homes.

In the cover feature, Canadian Lawyer Editor-in-Chief Tim Wilbur traces Melissa’s career as a personal injury lawyer focusing on the needs of elderly clients, and describes the moment when she realized that litigation alone would not be enough to improve conditions for present and future residents of long-term care homes.

The article also explains how Melissa balances her busy legal practice with her role as co-founder of the grassroots advocacy group Canadians4LTC, and describes her efforts to pressure politicians across the country to develop national standards for the long-term care industry. Although she agrees that fighting for justice on multiple fronts is a considerable challenge, Melissa firmly states, “My clients are worth it.”

We are proud of the work that Melissa is doing inside and outside of the courtroom to protect our most vulnerable citizens, and we are pleased to see the issue of long-term care standards continue to receive media attention. Read the full article on Canadian Lawyer magazine’s website, below:
