The 6th Annual Personal Injury Bar Charity Hockey Challenge was held at the Canlan - Etobicoke arenas on April 3, 2012. The event was hosted by Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP and a number of sponsors.
There were eight teams; Elements Toros, Bergmanis Preyra Stars, McKellar Sharks, FMT Stars, Soma Leafs, Cartel Coyotes, Zuber Devils and YorkStreet Bull Dogs ( (from the Hamilton region). The Zuber Devils, captained by James Schacter, won the Grand Championship and the Cartel Coyotes were Runners Up. The Bergmanis Preyra Stars won the Consolation Championship. MVP Goalie was Dan Fiorita, MVP Forward was David Elman and MVP Defence was Joe Bowcock. With all the enthusiastic new sponsors, the Personal Injury Bar was able to raise $77,733.01 for Shoot for A Cure, a Canadian spinal research organization and specifically Play It Cool, a program to prevent spinal cord injuries in sports. Organizer Michael Henry of Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP was ecstatic with the level of support and enthusiasm for the tournament and the amount of money raised this year was beyond expectations. So far the tournament has raised almost $250,000.00 in just six years. Everyone is already looking forward to next years tournament.
